This is a quick walk through setting up Excel to use as a data source format in DIXF. The setup is pretty easy however you may run into an installation problem and I’ve left that in the video so you can see how to work around it. The problem is a miss-match of versions of the SQL DTS services on what DIXF is expecting and what you have installed. So you will see an error message “Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0048021” when you try to preview the XLS as a source file in the processing group. Here is the walk through.

In my example I’m using the AX2012 R3 CU8 demo VM and it has SQL 2014 installed. If you search for the error message you will see it’s been noted a few times in different community posts. So while I’ve copied the same configuration below that I used in the video, you want to make sure you check the registry on the machine you are using to make sure the references match otherwise you’ll end up with the same error.
