cXML punchOut commodity code handling

When working with suppliers using punchOut you might want to capture the commodity code coming back from the suppliers site that the procurement team can use to do some analytics on the spending.

There are different classification systems that I’ve posted about before on the blog. For example UNSPSC.

When using the cXML punchOut protocol handler you might want to extract the code form the XML message. There is a parameter called Commodity classification that you can use to select the classification system on the Procurement and sourcing parameters\Procurement site settings.

Here is a quick overview.

As you will see in the video this is returned as text and put into the description of the requisition so if you need that to be more structured you could modify the protocol handler to populate into a specific field.

For notes on downloading the cXML punchOut protocol for AX2012 see this post
