From AX2012 R2 CU7 and thus into R3 had a feature to allow you to compare data between companies. This is handy if you are you are trying to keep data in sync across companies. For example you could have a master data company that you don’t do transactions but use it as a template to manage parameters and reference data and then copy to other companies. Another example is to check for similar data across companies for example customers you might do business with in multiple companies if they weren’t associated with the same party. This is a quick walk through of how this works.
As mentioned in the video this just works for entities because it uses the staging table to store the data to compare. As you can see you can copy the records to the other company as well. I’ll do a follow-up post on the copy company if you want to do something like a mass update.
