In this video I walk through the basic setup of exposing some data out of Dynamics AX for reading data. The ODATA connection in AX only supports read access so you can’t update data with ODATA.

If you are not familiar with what ODATA then you can do a web search for the term. The Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OData page has a basic introduction of some of the terms. Keep in mind this is quite technical because it’s really the plumbing of how to move data between systems and the protocol to do that.

So if you are not that interested in that mechanics and just how to use it with Dynamics AX then that is what I tried to cover in my video. This example I show exposing data and consuming it with Excel. In this example I’m using Dynamics AX 2012 R3 but this capability was in there back to AX2012 RTM.
