Excel rounding and comparing to AX

I was working on something for a customer related to the contribution ratio in AX that I’ll cover in a later post. While I was working on that I decided I’d calculate the expected outcome in Excel to compare against AX. I was confused by the difference. This is not unusual in AX as rounding happens and there are parameter to control different aspects of it.

So I debugged AX and found that the calculation was in fact correct in AX so I went back to Excel and after some puzzling with different approaches for splitting up the calculation I came to the conclusion it was Excel rounding. I did some digging and after adding the ROUND() function I was matching what was in AX.

Here is a quick overview.
