Document branding – modern report designs

In AX the customer facing documents have always needed some modification in the implementation to get the formatting to look ok for presentation to a customer or vendor. The same is true for D365 but there is some optional reports that you can download called the modern report design templates. These new reports use some setup called document branding that you can find in organizational administration.

This gives you are few parameters like some extra logo options, coloring, additional notes. There are 14 reports that come in the download which are

Each different document users some of the branding parameters as appropriate for that reports. It should also be noted that this is available from platform update 3.

  4. Hi Lachlan, I cannot get this to work – the report simply doesn’t show up in the drop-down for Print management. I even tried adding it to the table referenced by the drop down, via the table browser, but got an error instead. I’m on Update 6. Are you sure this works?

In any case the fact that it is not a viable update to “Trade documents”, but just a framework for us to build our own, is one of the biggest disappointments of the last couple of years…
