If you are working with projects you might want to enable project budget control to control costs on projects. This will allow you to have a warning or stop costs like purchases going through the system. There are a number of parameter options and it’s import to note that the main project accounting parameters are the default at the time the project is created and then you can override the parameters on the project. It’s also important to point out this is a different budget control to the GL based budget control.
