Database initialization check list

In a previous post we created an empty database. When you first access the DB you will be prompted to complete the initialization checklist. This video is a walk through of the things that you will need to do to complete the checklist and some of the things you will need to consider with the different options.

While this video is 15 minutes the whole process might take an hour depending on your environment for things like the compile, symc times etc. I edited this wait time out of the video so you don’t have to watch that but something to consider for expectation setting if this is the first time you walk through the list. Also at the end we take a database backup. You want to make sure you do this so if you have to go back to a empty DB then just restore a database backup which will have the initialization done to save some time.

Also in this video I configured a project for Lifecycle services. While it’s just a prompt to get that configured it’s something that you can use more while configuring the environment. Also I was installing AX2012 R3 CU8 in this example so it has the Lifecycle services menu if you were installing R2 you wouldn’t have seen this as it was added in R3.

Cheers

Lachlan
