When you navigate from a list page to a details page in AX the default behavior is to open the details form in read only mode. If you do a lot of editing then this might be one extra click you don’t want to click the edit button to start editing. If you want to set the default mode as edit then you an do that under the tools\options. This is a quick walk through where to find this setting.
